Proof of movement

Movement Record

Metaconceptual Art is argued here as a natural, credible, and valid movement through linked open data: genealogy, principles, works, standards, external alignment, and provenance.

Argument

A Claim That Can Be Checked

This page does not ask linked open data to canonize Metaconceptual Art by decree. It uses linked open data to show the movement's lineage, evidence, standards, and revisions in a form a curator, scholar, crawler, or collection system can inspect.

It also separates origin from publication: Sun & Rain Works was established in 2005, Metaconceptual Art was created as a movement in 2007, early work evidence is recorded from 2009, and the 2026 web layer makes selected records public and machine-readable.

02

Defined Principles

The movement has a name, thesis, sentence sequence, theory text, and repeatable criteria.

The home page publishes the canonical definition and Eight Sentences; the Theory page gives the primary text; the graph records the concept as a stable local node.

03

Works On View

It is not only a manifesto; it has catalogued works with stable URLs, metadata, media, and records.

6 catalogued works are published from a shared source of truth and tied to Linked Art records.

04

Machine-Readable Legitimacy

The project speaks established museum and web languages: Linked Art, CIDOC-CRM, IIIF, JSON-LD, Wikidata, Getty vocabularies, and schema.org.

Linked Art records dereference through content negotiation, IIIF manifests expose image works, and pages include structured data.

05

External Alignment

It points outward to recognized art-historical entities instead of inventing all authority internally.

The graph separates local IDs from external IDs, preserving a clear difference between this movement's claims and recognized public authorities.

06

Provenance Over Time

Sun & Rain Works predates the public linked-data layer: the art business was established in 2005, Metaconceptual Art was created as a movement in 2007, 2009 receipts and metadata are treated as early-work evidence, and 2026 is the public machine-readable publication date.

The provenance layer separates origin, evidence, and publication so the movement is not framed as a 2026 hindsight construction.

Linked Art shape

Local Concept, External Lineage

The movement is modeled as a local Linked Art `Type`: named here, described here, and connected outward through `broader` and `created_by.influenced_by` rather than pretending an external authority has already assigned it a public ID.

Credibility boundary

What This Proves, And What It Does Not

The record proves internal coherence, public evidence, external alignment, standards-based legibility, and a studio-origin chronology. It does not claim that museums, scholars, or Wikidata have already recognized Metaconceptual Art as an established historical movement. It also does not claim direct influence on later artists or art-historical events unless separate evidence of contact, access, or derivation is published.
